Before I was interviewed for the management-training programme I did some research on Wolseley. These facts opened my eyes to the size of the company, illustrated by the branch network and turnover. I have been with the company for six years, so I have had the time to understand whom I work for and what we are trying to achieve. This understanding develops with the training programme and when you visit the Wolseley UK Offices at Royal Leamington Spa or Ripon or attend a conference.
The training that I have been fortunate to receive has been of the highest quality. I have friends who work for other large companies who don't have the same level of training as Wolseley. The programme I completed had the right mix of branch experience supported by the various training courses, which are highly relevant to your position. Development is influenced by two main factors. First, the company gives you the training and support. Second, the graduate has to have the right attitude and be willing to stretch him or herself. This approach will enhance your development as the opportunities are there for the taking.
Before applying, do the research. There is more to the company than working in a branch. The training is good and the opportunities exist for those who commit themselves fully. Wolseley provides stability and fast-track development thanks to the company's expansion strategy. In this industry Wolseley is unrivalled.
