Wolseley Opens Strategic Investment Centrepiece in the UK

The National Distribution Centre (NDC) is the centrepiece of a £100m investment in its UK logistics network.
The colossal centre, which will employ 250 people and 147,000 storage locations, covers 355,000 square feet and when up to full capacity will process around 65 million product units each year.
Situated next to Wolseley UK’s Leamington Spa headquarters in Warwickshire, the NDC will primarily supply products to Wolseley’s existing regional distribution centres in Yorkshire, Worcester and Milton Keynes, and two more being planned in Lancashire and the South of England.

Addressing assembled suppliers, customers, staff and other guests at the opening of the NDC, Chip Hornsby (pictured above officially opening the centre) said:
“I’m delighted to be opening Wolseley’s UK National Distribution Center here in the West Midlands. We want to transform customer expectations of service in this industry, by providing both the widest range of products on the market, combined with unrivalled levels of availability throughout the UK.”
During his visit to Leamington Spa, Chip also addressed an audience of 200 staff, toured the NDC, and was interviewed by the
UK’s leading financial newspaper, the Financial Times.
The planned 340,000 square foot southern distribution centre, the location of which is currently being decided, will create up to 300 new jobs. Together with the NDC and the planned North West distribution centre it will add much-needed capacity to Wolseley’s network, and enable the company to offer an even wider range of products to its customers. Together these additional three facilities will help ensure that Wolseley improves its customer service, and meets its ambitious growth targets.
