Acquisitions

Customers want choice and availability. Wolseley delivers them through strategic acquisition. In France, the building supplies and timber specialist, PBM complements the plumbing and heating distribution prowess of Brossette as well as providing synergies with our Heavy Side business in the UK. Customers across Ireland now benefit from the acquisition of Brooks Group Ltd, whose timber and building materials experience complements the plumbing and heating expertise of Heat Merchants. In North America, the acquisition of Vegas General Construction demonstrates how we respond to changing customer needs; in this case, by expanding the framing and installation service to house builders. Throughout our long history acquisition has played a key role in our ability to deliver product and geographic diversity.

During the financial year 1 August 2006 to 31 July 2007, Wolseley spent £1,718 on 44 acquisitions in total, 22 of them in North America and 22 in Europe.This included the purchase of DT Group for £1,339m together with a spend of £379m on 43 bolt-on acquisitions.
