North American division
The Group’s North American division is comprised of the US Plumbing and Heating segment (Ferguson) and Canadian segment (Wolseley Canada), both of which supply plumbing, waterworks and heating-cooling products, including industrial pipes, valves and fittings, to markets in North America.
On 6 May Wolseley plc disposed of its controlling interest in Stock Building Supply to Gores Group LLC.
Wolseley plc now has a minority shareholding in Stock Building Supply (www.stockbuildingsupply.com).
US plumbing & heating
Ferguson is a wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating-cooling, waterworks and pipe, valve and fittings products primarily to professional contractors and the industrial market. Ferguson’s customers include plumbing,mechanical and utility contractors and air conditioning dealers, plants, utilities, irrigation and fire suppression equipment installers. Ferguson is headquartered in Newport News, Virginia and operates in 50 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico. Ferguson also provides integrated purchasing services for third party customers.
Ferguson’s operations are broken into five business groups: Residential Plumbing; HVAC; Waterworks; Commercial Plumbing; and Industrial, which includes both industrial integrated supply, pipe, valve and fittings and fire suppression supplies.
As at 31 July 2009, Ferguson had eight distribution centres, three pipeyards and 1,228 branches.
Canada
Wolseley Canada distributes plumbing, heating and piping products, including HVAC, waterworks, refrigeration and fire protection products as well as industrial pipe, valve and fittings and other plumbing supplies. Its customers include professional contractors, utilities providers and machine shop operators. Wolseley Canada, which comprises the operations of Wolseley Group Canada, Inc. and Wolseley Group Industrial Products Group, Inc., is headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, and operates locations across Canada, including Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton.
As at 31 July 2009, Wolseley Canada had 225 branches.
