What might you expect if you were working at Wolseley?

A first-class company

We’re a decentralised business, so perhaps you aren’t too familiar with our name. In fact, Wolseley is the world’s number one distributor of heating and plumbing products as well as a leading supplier of building materials. Group revenue was £14,430 in 2015/16.

From Ferguson in the USA, to Stark in Denmark, and Plumb Center in the UK, our businesses are some of the biggest and most successful names in their local markets.

You might not have heard too much about us, but Wolseley provides all the opportunities and support that you would expect from a successful FTSE100 business.

An international perspective

We’re an international business, with operations in four regions: the United States, United Kingdom, the Nordic region and Canada and Central Europe. In all, Wolseley employs around 39,000 people.

However we’re a locally focused business too – the majority of our customers travel around 20 miles to a branch.

While most roles at Wolseley won’t have an obvious international aspect, our people are aware of a wider perspective. Our global reach gives us a great opportunity to learn from one another and share best practice, from Copenhagen to Virginia.

Plenty of career options

We provide a wide range of career opportunities across every aspect of our business.

At any time, we might have positions in sales, management, purchasing/sourcing, operations, showroom, finance and accounting, supply chain logistics, HR or information systems.

Each Wolseley company recruits independently. If you’re interested in finding out more about opportunities at a particular company, please contact the business direct – you can find out how in the contacts directory or our career contacts page. Our businesses recruit throughout the year and are always interested in receiving CVs.

Our people are at the heart of our success. Whatever your role, you’ll play an important part in our business. We will value your contribution and support your development.

A strong and attractive culture

Our culture is based on our values and is a big part of what makes Wolseley a great place to work. While our individual businesses do have distinct cultures of their own, these are underpinned by what it means to be a part of Wolseley.

At Wolseley, we act honestly, fairly and with integrity. That means we take responsibility for our actions and do the right thing – with our customers, our suppliers and with our colleagues.

We want to be the best at what we do. We’ll push ourselves to perform to the highest standards and are continually looking for ways to improve. We take advantage of the training and opportunities that are available, embrace new skills and approaches and share what we learn with our colleagues.

If this sounds like an exciting and rewarding place to work, then a career at Wolseley might be for you.

Support to build your career

We value our people and want them to stay with us. We believe in promotion from within and advancement on merit.

Our aim is to provide an effective training and development programme for all our people, no matter what job they do or how senior they are in the organisation.

We run a number of leadership development programmes to help our mid-to-senior level managers acquire the broader skills they need to operate at higher levels of the company, as well as graduate programmes to help develop potential leaders of the business. We are also carrying out robust talent review and succession plans across the Group.
