History
The Wolseley story is about a whole lot more than distribution. The logistics market leader of today emerged from manufacturing roots.
The company began in 1887 in Sydney, Australia when Frederick York Wolseley founded the Wolseley Sheep Shearing Machine Company Limited. Nine years later the first Wolseley motor car rolled off the production line in Birmingham, England. The company grew rapidly and moved into heating, industrial pipes and distribution, paving the foundations for the Wolseley of the 21st century.
Today, following generations of successful adaptation to changing business conditions, Wolseley is a global brand and the world's largest trade distributor of plumbing and heating products and a leading supplier of building materials.
